We are pleased to announce an international call for fellowships from September 1<sup>st<\/sup> 2019 until July 31<sup>st<\/sup> 2020 aimed at outstanding researchers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>We are flexible concerning the exact visiting period. People who did receive a fellowship do not qualify for further application.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship No. 1:<\/strong><strong> Senior\nFellowship (1 month: 3000 Euro\/month) or Junior Fellowship (2 months: 2000 Euro\/month)\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Animal Cognition<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior applicants are expected to work at least on the level of an associate professor and should be able to connect with the animal studies in the lab of Prof. Onur G\u00fcnt\u00fcrk\u00fcn. They must have an outstanding publication record based on animal studies. We expect strong interdisciplinary interests and the publications should also contribute to the theoretical understanding of animal minds. Junior applicants must have a PhD and at least published four articles in peer-reviewed journals, two of which are dealing with theoretical accounts concerning animal cognition. The fellow should be able to contribute towards a conceptual and\/or computational theory that accounts for both functions in a single unified framework. Applicants should have strong interdisciplinary interests across neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy. They must hold a PhD and have published at least three peer-reviewed articles on a related topic. Please direct inquiries and applications to Prof. Dr. Sen Cheng (sen.cheng@rub.de).<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship No. 3:<\/strong><strong> Junior Fellowship (1-2 months: 2000 Euro\/month)\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Philosophy of Perception and\/or (Formal) Epistemology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nEmmy Noether Research Group \u2018From Perception To Belief and Back Again\u2019 and the\nCenter for Mind and Cognition (both located at Ruhr-University Bochum) invite\napplications for a one or two months&nbsp;fellowship in philosophy of\nperception and\/or formal epistemology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants\nmust have been awarded a doctoral degree and they must have a publication\nrecord in at least one of the mentioned areas of research. The applicant for\nthe fellowship is expected to work at least on the&nbsp;level of postdoc.\nIdeally, the research the applicant indents to conduct during the fellowship is\nrelevant for the research conducted by the Emmy Noether Research Group \u2018From\nPerception To Belief and Back&nbsp;Again\u2019 or by one of its members. We regularly host workshops,\nresearch seminars, and international guest&nbsp;researchers and we, thus, offer\na highly productive research environment. The successful candidate will have\naccess to the university library, computer resources, and will be provided with\nan office space during&nbsp;her or his research stay. They should have an outstanding publication record in the area of philosophy of mind and\/or cognitive science. Junior applicants should have a PhD and at least published four articles in peer-reviewed journals. Please send your application as well as requests for further information to Prof. Dr. Tobias Schlicht (tobias.schlicht@rub.de).<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fellowship No. 5:<\/strong><strong> Senior\nFellowship (1 month: 3000 Euro\/month) or Junior Fellowship (1-2 months: 2000\nEuro\/month) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Episodic Memory and the Self<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfellowship can either realized in experimental neuroscience or in philosophical\ntheory formation: In the former case the fellow is supposed to work with the\nmethod of fMRI investigating either aspects of memory or of self-consciousness.\nIn the latter case, the fellow is supposed to contribute to the theory of the\ninteraction between memory and the self: how is episodic memory recall shaped\nby the self-model? How and to which extent is the self constituted by episodic\nmemory?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The experimental fellowship is especially connected with the chair of Prof. Dr. Nikolai Axmacher. The theoretical fellowship is especially connected with chair of Prof. A. Newen. Both prinicple investigators are closely interacting concerning this research area and the fellow will be integrated in a DFG-research unit \u201cConbstructing Scenarios of the Past\u201d. Ideally, the Fellows&#8217; multi-method research will address the role of\nmemory processes, learning and social understanding with a focus on normative\nand abnormal development. Links between the Fellows&#8217; research and the\ntheoretical research on social cognition at the Institute of Philosophy II\n(Prof. Dr. Albert Newen, Prof. Dr. Tobias Schlicht) are encouraged. The proposed work under the fellowship, in collaboration with\nresearchers at RUB, is expected to promote a vision of\ndynamically-differentiated, AI-supported social interaction (e.g. in school\neducation between teachers, students\/peers, and AI agents), and to further our\nunderstanding of how to design for effective AI-based\n&#8220;co-orchestration&#8221; that leverages complementary strengths of\ndifferent stateholdes in social interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fellowship is especially connected with the chair of Prof. Dr. Nikol Rummel at RUB. It is also beneficial if the research is able to connect with theoretical research on understanding social cognition going at the Institut of Philosophy II (Prof. A. Newen).
